What is the technique?

Remedial massage, as can be understood from its name, is basically a remedy for the tired body. This technique makes use of gentle massages on the muscle tissues and it works deeper than the usual regular massages. This type of massage has long lasting effects. It is used for preventing any kind of injury or to heal injuries. It covers a lot of body parts such as muscular or skeletal malfunctioning like fibrositis, frozen shoulder, whiplash, arthritis, sports or dance injuries, muscular atrophy, muscle cramps, spondylitis etc.
The remedial massage therapy sessions generally extend for almost half an hour, but it usually depends on the extent of the issue and how much treatment your body can handle. An excessive treatment at one time can prove to be equal to no treatment at all. The extended sessions can last for up to 45 minutes and is generally advised for patients with problems in various body parts.

What is my remedial massage used for?

There are various trigger points in our body which are small contractions in the muscle fibers causing knots in the tissue. They can cause severe pain and are often followed by dizziness, nausea, muscle stiffness and lethargy. The contraction occurs in the microscopic muscle fiber and it is caused due to the inability of muscle sarcomere to relax from contracted state. The therapists are expert in finding these knots in your body. They range in sizes from as small as a pea to the size of a pinhead. They are caused by accidents, postural stress, falls, strains etc. They lie under layers of muscles latently and sometimes can be triggered by even little stress. They are highly painful but can be easily treated through remedial massage once their location is found.
